I learned the business by doing it.
Like a lot of writers, I started with the stories. Everything else—publishing, branding, websites, blurbs, readers, marketing, and the business behind the books—came later.
I’m Leigh Jarrett, a Contemporary Romance author, editor, and writing educator with over 15 years of experience in independent publishing.
Some things worked well. Some things absolutely did not. The Working Writer grew out of those years of trial, error, adapting, and figuring out what writers actually need to build a career that supports their work.
